Another disorder I've thought about is racial agoraphobia. I'm not sure if this term is medically recognized. I dubbed it so because agoraphobia (the fear of groups or of being in crowded places) and racial (of or related to genetically distinguished groups of people). I experienced this first hand after 9/11 without even realizing I had been affected by it. Albeit unjust to the group around me, it was something very real and terrifying.
The last social issue is spousal abuse. Specifically women who seem to thrive on the abuse dished out by their mate. I'm having difficulty with this, it's a touchy subject and I can't think of a solution. You can take someone out of an abusive relationship but you can't make them not go back.

I particularly like your first idea. It goes along well with the circumstances layed out in Misery . It might be a reason for Annie keeping Paul around for so long.
the idea of writing an essay about phobias could be a good idea, and since phobias have many different challenges that would really help you expand your essay.
These are some interesting topics you have picked out. I believe when a woman stays in an abusive relationship it is because they have poor self worth. They must have no self esteem and believe they are only worthy of being treated that way. If there was some kind of required counseling or treatment for all people to create a new way of believing in themselves people would change positively in alot of ways. Domestic violence would most definatley cut down.
