Essay 3
The only controversial issue that I see growing worldwide is pregnancy. Everywhere we look now and days people young and old are pregnant. There are teens as young as 13 dealing with the unknown outcomes of sex. Parents run from the issue so they wont have to face the thought that their child is entering adulthood. A sex education class will help educate students on not only pregnancy but STD's as well. Its better to know because some diseases cant be cured. One second of pleasure could cause a lifetime of pain. Furthermore some teens cant talk to their parents because they are afraid to be judged or yelled at, but talking to peers among the same age group could be beneficial.
Essay 4
My topic of discussion for essay 4 is Misery by Stephen King. I choosed to write a position paper on the abuse Annie inflicts on Paul. Most might not think he was abused but Paul was almost seen as being tortured. She made him drink mop water with his pills, paralyzed him so he couldn't walk, and made him write stories against his will. The controversial issue could have been hostage as well but I don't view that as a standard issue. Annie was mean and cruel to Paul. She went from being a number 1 fan too the number 1 psycho. I don't believe Paul will ever be able to live a regular life knowing that there are other fans out there that feel the same way she does. His only piece comes from the satisfaction knowing that Annie is dead.
Essay 5
For the character analysis of The Green Mile I would like to explore more than one character. John Edgecomb was the main character telling the story that helps identify the whole cast of the movie. John was a corrections officer that worked on The Green Mile in E Block of the prison unit. Everyday he faced trials and pain dealing with Percy, a cruel guard, and the reality of execution. I find this important because it helps draw the conclusion that even though they are suppose to protect the inmates they are in charge of killing them. This sheds immediate light on Percy because he just as cruel as the inmates if not worst. Next this brings they thought out about Will Bill Wharton because even though he is in jail he still acts the same and shows no sympathy for his actions. He killed three people and didn't bother to show pain until it came to him being put in solitary confinement. The whole story is summed up with the use of John Coffey because he brings life to the families that didn't think there was such a supernatural being. I believe that John made Percy and Wharton suffer the same way that they made others suffer. In return for being such a pure soul John was granted the gift of life.
