Death of the Family Farm II

In my first essay, I spoke of how technology killed the small town farmer. I’d like to elaborate on that. I was able to access family records for that era and had some great information at my disposal. For this second essay, I want to include facts and statistics from farm bureaus and county agricultural extensions. I want to build a story of the times and show my readers what the people were going through.

When tractors first came out, everyone wanted one (not unlike today with the Ipad and new cell phones). Tractors were expensive and not just anybody could afford them. Then prices dropped almost fifty percent and they were affordable to most. Farmers everywhere were finally able to feed their families and have a little money in their pockets. Tractors were more efficient and faster than the old horse and plow. Everything benefited from this. Towns boomed, babies boomed, and people smiled more.

World War I came along and the government granted contracts to these small time farmers. Suddenly, the speed they’d acquired with this new technology wasn’t enough. Farmers bought more tractors and hired more helpers. They were right back in the same situation they were in before. When the government contracts were over and that extra money wasn’t there, the little farmers went under. They still had all the expenses but no money to pay them with or feed their families. Then World War II happened and the same thing all over again.

I really want to show the devastation these farming communities went through and what effect it’s had on our lives today. I would love to find a family like mine that kept good farm records and didn’t fall into the ‘Tractor Trap’.

Essay 2 Ideas

I am not really sure what would be a great topic to write about for the second essay. I would be nice to go more in depth with the topic of technology I suppose. I based my essay on communications and how technology has been implemented into out everyday life, mostly from my own personal experiences. It would be interesting to focus on other aspects like healthcare. On the other hand I think it would be interesting to focus on some of the issues from the novel I am reading. The Green Mile brings up a lot of issues like the death penalty, racism, and belief in a higher power. I think any of these would be complex and interesting essay topic. But like I said I am on the fence.

Ideas for Essay 2?

In the first essay, i covered the importance of technology to our health community and to our communications. In this essay I suppose I will further this opinion of mine and cover how important technology is to our forensics, automobiles, and the environment as a whole. Without the technology of forensics, some people would get away with murder or some crimes would never be solved. Technology is important to our automobiles in the ways of our airbags are computerized, OnStar, and we rely on automobiles to get to the places we HAVE to go. Technology has helped the environment in many ways also believe it or not, energy efficient windows, air systems and homes. Theres a few more things I will consider going over also, its a little hard to think of more when I've already covered,in my opinion, the most important reasons why technology is beneficial. We shall see in the post review what I come up with!

Essay 2

In my first essay I wrote about how DNA has been beneficial to criminal justice system. I explained
about cases, where the innocent that was accused of murder was exonerated and the guilty was bought to justice. The doctor who implanted a 15cm penrose in his arm filled with another man blood  to mislead the investigation of rape, however he was not able to deceive the technology that analyzed  the blood.
I will continue to write about the benefits that technology has brought to the criminal justice system, if there is anything that might interest you that you would like to know please let me know and I will do my best to locate the information.
i will be writing about the equipment that the officer use on a daily bases to help them and the public to stay safe.

Essay 2: Breaching the Parameter

My goal for Essay Two is to expand beyond the parameters of my original essay. In Essay One, my primary focus consisted of healthcare and three componenets necessary to keep healthcare alive. For this essay, I am looking for other areas outside of healthcare that technology has greatly benefited. Some of the ideas that I have thought up include communication, forensics, marketing, etc. I'm not quite sure which direction I am leaning toward the most. My decision will most likely be a result of my research findings. I do have some examples picked out from the novel Misery by Stephen King. I will however have to be careful not to overstep the first reading assignment because I have almost finished reading the novel. I am really enjoying the storyline and I am anxious to finish reading it. . Throughout the story I am seeing many ideas for a good essay and hoping to use these ideas for future papers. I am left with a lingering feeling of unfinished business when I am not reading so I cannot wait to see how the storyline progresses. I am looking forward to some great future essays.

Innovating Methods of Destruction

I will continue my essay by furthering my research on technological advancements that have deteriorating effects on society and culture. In my draft I touched lightly on social conflicts and health issues evolved from technology.

To extend my points in health issues I would like to address the global effects and disaster caused in such field as radiation exposure increasingly becoming popular in areas from daily routines to substantial effects like Chernobyl and the Atomic Bomb.

In social matters I will increase my information on the harms that future generations will succumb due to instant gratification awards as well as lack of effort to succeed, primarily being hand fed throughout adolescence.

I hope to state a clear and valid point of view throughout the essay and not change minds, but open them.

Essay2 Ideas

I did my first essay on the benefits of techonology and how they are so great in the medical field and how we use medicine for everything now and how cell phones are the greatest ever and all that. BUT... I am needing new information on what to write for my second essay and how to expand all of my ideas from the previous one. I am running out of steam and motivation for these essay's on technology. I was thinking about looking at it from a detrimental viewpoint, but I am afraid that if I do that, I won't have enough information, personal experiences or ideas to write about that. So I ended up just deciding to expand my ideas from said essay about how great technology is and to continue gushing over it and coming up with more reasons and evidence about why it is so beneficial, helpful, useful and great.

Devil's Advocate

I will continue to assert that technology is ultimately detrimental to humanity as a whole. My first essay skimmed some topics illustrating how and why I believe this, without delving too deeply into any one example. I think it will be fairly easy to elaborate and expand the paper, providing arguments from the opposition. Any issue has both a good and a bad side; with a topic as controversial and ambivalent as technology, it's very easy to see both sides of every argument, making it easy a) to provide the opposition's arguments in a paper, and b) to refute them.

I don't actually have any personal issue with technology and its downfalls; I simply chose this side of the argument to play the Devil's Advocate. I think it's too simple to argue FOR technology; the whole world is doing that, every single day, clamoring for the latest and greatest gadgets. The majority of my classmates seemed to be leaning towards writing about the benefits; therefore, I chose the cons. The class discussions we've had, and the peer reviews of essays, would be extremely dull if we were all simply nodding and agreeing with each other. I hate discussions like that. That's why I prefer to play the Devil's Advocate, and keep things interesting.

Essay 2 Ideas

When most people say that technology causes problems, they usually mean that the people who used or develop the technologies are causing the problems. When we try to find out the source or the problems of technology, it is always about the problem of people. However, when most people ignore the downside of what the technologies will bring to us and use them without thinking, then, the technologies can be harmful to us. In this essay, I am going to focus on the affect of food technology bring to us when we keep using technology the way we usually do. My position in this paper is against because of three reasons.

First, food technology limits our food choice. It changes the food ingredient so much that makes us harder to choose the nature foods. Second, it has bad affect on our health. Some studies told us that the chemicals in the processed food can increase the chance of developing allergies, heart attack and cancer. Third, food technology is also changing our environment. For example, biotechnology has been used to change the genes of chicken; in the other word, it is changing our food chain. The result of that is still unknown.

I am going to add more examples from the King's Novel, Battle Field and Jaunt, and more statistics about different food technology in this essay. I am thinking to come up with some better reasons or main points to support my thesis.

Please give me any comment or suggestion whether you agree with my topic or not : )

"Come here, Watson, I want you"

Who invented the telephone is an arguable and twisted history lesson. Whether it was Alexander Graham Bell or Elisha Gray I would like to say a heartfelt and resounding thank you.
I am a people person, extroverted to the extreme. I love to talk and to listen, to exchange thoughts, laughs, ideas, experiences and emotions. Constantly. This was the basis of my first essay, communication and how technology has broadened that ability to unimagined heights.
The very concept of this assignment is something that would not have been in existence were it not for all of the rapid advances in technology. Really, blogging? Years ago that was a ridiculous concept.
I am quick to extole all of the virtues of technology and the beneficial role it has played in my life and in my opinion everyone else's life as well, but I do look forward to exploring the opposition as well and see how some could feel we are worse because of it.
Also, my first essay was so strongly just a editiorial and I am glad that I will have a chance to do more research and present some factual basis for why I feel the way I feel.

Essay 2

Without technology our lives would be so complicated. I am completely certain that everyone uses technology in some kind of form in a daily basis. Most people start their morning with alarm clocks or alarms on their cell phones to start off their day. We need our vehicles to transport from place to place. Luckily if we didn’t even have a vehicle we have buses, taxis, subways, trains, planes, and many more different technologies that function as transportation. Most jobs function with time clock’s to check in and out of work and we need computers to work most jobs. Schools cannot work without computers; something almost every instructor needs to organize their work, calendar, do grading, and email, basically to communicate with fellow coworkers and students. In the medical field technology seems to be the most important of all. Many cures would not have been found if it wasn’t for our technology being improving all the time. Living without a vehicle, cell phone, electricity, computer, and many other functional things would be worst disaster. At the same time some things would probably be a lot better without. Texting or dialing while driving has been a huge issue making car accident rates go up. In my essay 2 I am going to elaborate on how technology is a necessity to function in our everyday lives.

Technology: America's Scapegoat

Blaming technology for the various social afflictions associated with it is like blaming fast food for making you fat. I personally feel that Americans have taken up a victim's attitude toward life in which we tend to blame anyone, or anything, instead of responsibly admitting our own fault.

Technological advances in communication, transportation, health care, education and national defense make our lives better, not worse. We can live longer, healthier and more productive lives thanks to the myriad devices, gadgets and machines that surround us.

Of course, there are problems that arise due to our access to such technology. However, these issues are merely problems with the way we as Americans use this technology, not the devices themselves. Can you really blame your cell phone when you get into an accident while texting?

I ask that you simply take a second to imagine living without the plethora of technological improvements that you use on a daily basis. Yeah, I think you can begin to see what I’m preaching.

You know, there are countries on our little planet we call Earth that are not so blessed. There are places where people still live in mud-brick homes and cook what little they have over an open fire that they use to heat their homes in the winter. There are places where communication is limited to those within earshot, where education is limited to what one’s parents might have time to teach after the day’s labor in the field. There are places where human waste runs through shallow ditches in the muddy streets, children die from simple illnesses such as the common cold, women fetch water in buckets on their heads from the local stream- into which aforementioned human waste runs- and disease is treated with time.

I’ve seen my share of villages much like the one I described above. I’ve walked in those shoes and I know; technology is a good thing.

I’ll keep my Ford truck, my Droid cell phone, my Mac Book Pro and my HD TV. I’ll go to Tacobell when I’m hungry, 24-hour fitness when I’m feeling guilty and the hospital when I’m sick. I’ll post what I’m thinking on Facebook, read about civil unrest in Egypt on BBCnews.com, catch my favorite show on TiVo and laugh at my favorite clips on YouTube. I embrace technology rather than blame it for my problems. I encourage you to do the same.

thoughts on essay 2

In essay one I wrote about how technology is beneficial to society. And that enables us to mass communicate with whomever, whenever we want. For me this is a big factor in my world because I travel all around Galveston and Brazoria County for my job. If I wasn’t able to call people from my car I would be using more money, gas, time and I would be able to take care of as many people. The elderly do not realize the improvements technology has had on our world. So many of them think that cells phone are point-less, but what they done get is that phone I carry everywhere I go makes it easier for me to make their life easier. Researching more on my theory will only prove to me and who ever decides to read my essay that technology is really beneficial to us. Example I am typing this for class in class so I don’t have to use or waste a tree for paper. Recycle Reuses and Reduce right?!?

Essay 2

I really strugged with writing the first essay and now that we have to add 2 more pages to our essay i think it will be harder but hopefully i get more i deas or if yall have any ideas they will help. I wrote about how technology is detrimental everyone has their own opinion and I could have went either way but I chose detrimental cause their is also negative things to technology. But i wrote about their is less social interection, no excercise, and you dont get good education cause it destracts us from doing our work. But iam ganna reaserch more infromation and hopefully I find more ideas on this topic and if yall could any help would work.

IDK

Essay 2: Looks on Technology

Today, everybody loves technology, I can go either way. Everyone tends to use whatever technology throws at us just to make one small task easier. There's no problem with it, but you just gotta know when to stop. I said on my essay that technology is harmful to the people, but that does not mean that I do not like. Honestly I use technology almost every day of my life. But I have managed myself to the point to where I don’t rely on it. Technology is great to the people and to the world, but what if it all just shut down, or at least come to life. Then everyone’s life would be lost and confused, or at least incapable of thinking for themselves. There are a lot of different kinds of technology that can entertain anyone. My favorite is the television. But everyone says that too much television rots your brain. Then there’s the cell phone, and everyone says that texting while you driving can cause an accident. The internet is one of our greatest technological features that we have. It allows you to gather whatever information you need. But like always it has flaw. Too much browsing on the internet can sooner, or later lead to computer viruses, or legal trouble. Although these days technology is really helpful, there will always be a flaw. Remember that there will be shortcuts for each task that technology can provide, but if someone just makes something easier what will we gain. Technology is in fact great, and I will always use in whatever way I can, but I will follow my life not relying on it. I will live a well balanced life with my limits.

Why let technology control it?

essay 2 thoughts

In my first essay I talked about the beneficial factors technology can have for society such as things like medical science, cell phones, and the Internet.

For my second essay I will highlight the detrimental factors technology has on society. One of the biggest detriments is in my opinion 'Dependency' we rely on technology to do everything. What would we do without it? When we have a power outage everyone will start trippin out saying OMFG WTF i can't get on facebook or my phone died.!!!!!! We rely on technology so much not just for luxuries but medical science and transportation. Our world revolves around technology what would happen if it all just vanished? Or what if the source of fossil fuel that powers most of our society actually just vanishes?
Aside from dependency, some technology that humans created can destroy them. Terrorist aggression+nuclear warheads=not good

Those are my thoughts, Dylan

essay #2

In essay 1 I wrote about how technology can be detrimental to humanity.Although technology has great values there are abused. People often become lost in technology their whole outlook on life changes. Instead of worrying about whats going on in the world most are more interested in how many friends on facebook etc. You would never image how much technology has change family lives.Families become distance to one another family time is interrupted with TV,cell phones and computers.Text messsage is a major problem in school arcoss the world it allows friends to cheat on testes and other activites. Texting messaging has become one of the main causes of car wrecks in teens today.Student become less focus on class work due to computers in the classroom.Younger students are introduce into cyber bullying where there are not only bullied in school ,but also behind computers. It also changes social and culture views. Most people sit behind computers all day and lack exicercise, which is a major problem in america.Technology should be view for the thing it has improved not for it has abused.

Ashlee Skabla -Essay 2

There are so many opposing views to technology, none are right or wrong. Beneficial and detrimental sides to technology exist and always will, and most likely will grow more and more. Like the old saying goes, "one can ruin it for all." I've never actually agreed with that statement, but it sure is true.
Technology can be detrimental in a class room, through the use of the cellphones, facebook, personal e-mail, browsing the internet, or playing online games. Are students getting adequate education in the classroom, or is technology interrupting the learning proccess? People argue that technology is corrupting students learning abilities. They don't use their brains, and that they rely on the computer too much. It can be detrimental outside of the class room as well. Kids aren't playing outside anymore, and they aren't reading books. Instead they are communicating through computers with no personal interactions, and playing online games for hours on end.
However, technology in the classroom can be extremely beneficial. Learning can be expanded and hands-on. Technology can make learning exciting, visual, and entertaining. I also believe classroom expectations are based around technology, our papers have to be typed, double-spaced, and a certain font. This is done for the neatness, and the convenience of not having to try to read someones awful handwriting. Outside of the classroom, technology is still beneficial. What if you missed class, or lost your syllabus? With technology we are able to get into contact with our professors and fellow students. This is a great benefit in excelling in the class, and striving for a better grade. Librarys are online, which makes doing assignments convienent and effective even though you're not on campus. You can do your work in the comfort of your own home, but with the all the amentities of being on campus.
Although there are many ups and downs to technology. You can't butcher the benefits due to peoples overuse, I believe people are responsible for their own usage. If a student plays games and watches videos instead of participating, that's their own fault. You can't punish other students who use the computer for legit reasons. Even outside the classroom, kids can play games and chat, but if its abused, they pay the price. If they can't socially interact with other kids in person, technology is not to blame. Technology didn't tape your fingers to the mouse or demand you to push buttons. Just like eating, junk food is amazing! Just eat it in moderation, use technology, but in moderation. If you become obese, do you blame the twinkies, or yourself?

Transition to Essay 2

Seeing as writing one or two more pages to add to my first essay, versus writing an entirely new three to four page paper is right up my lazy alley, I'll be using the ideas from essay one and expanding on them. In my first essay I wrote about the benefits of technology in the field of modern medicine, more specifically in the form of transportation of patients via ambulances, life flight etc., and the machines used to sterilize the tools and linens necessary in hospitals. I'll be looking for an opposing view in this area, so if anyone has a solid idea I would enjoy any kind of feedback. Hurry though, I procrastinate...

essay 2 thoughts

Technology… I think it is beneficial to human society, well that’s what I wrote about in essay one. I talked about the uses of it in education and health care. I like the inventions of the cell phone, computer, and transportation vehicles. I don’t know about you but I love being able to talk to my friends with the push of some buttons to see what homework we had. When the technology crashes we will not be able to use it to get some of our grades. Although some teachers keep paper copies of our grades, I don’t think all of them do. All of our papers are typed on the computer most of the time. So if technology crashed tomorrow, all of our wonderful papers would be gone within the snap of a finger. We do depend on the use of the internet for way too much research; I don’t think graduating students even know how to do research out of a book anymore. I think we should have a day of the year where the government shuts off all the power for twenty-four hours. See what people do, how they react, and how just that one day might change their lives. They might be a little more aware how bad we need technology as a crutch to today’s society.
Health care has also changed a lot over the past years in a very beneficial way by, expanding our life span, being able to see broken bones, torn ligaments, and other things that are wrong with our body. I can’t think of anything wrong with technology in the health care field because it saves lives every day. You cannot tell me if your grandpa is about to die because of a blood clot or something we can fix with modern day technology, that you’re going to say no to the help of technology. I’m sorry but if someone I love is about to die I’m not going to do some voodoo ritual and hope they get better. You better believe I’m going to take them to the doctor where they can check every microscopic millimeter of their body.

Essay 1

I go both ways with this technology question I agree in some situations ya, it is better to have a way to call for help or assist people in their lives but at the same time I think mankind is setting itself up for a huge fall. When that happens all the little things people take for granted are gonna be missed severely. Now in my paper I wrote that I am for it and that’s because I had to pick a side and honestly, I just thought that it would be easier to write about technology being good. All the things technology has helped with generally has benefited mankind, and I say generally because there’s a lot of things that has been created that helps destroy life as well. But some of the things like the health system for instance has greatly benefitted from all the new technology. MRIs, cat scans, EKGs all machines used to help cure illnesses and diseases and to help further our knowledge about the human body. Law enforcement is another thing that has benefitted greatly thanks to technology we can keep track of rapists, child molesters, and people on parole, all people that we don’t want our kids around. Another thing is construction, just think about how hard it would have been to build the Empire state building without cranes, welders, and elevators. Speaking of elevators how many people use those every day…

Essay #2 Era of Communication-Help with oppose view?

In today’s society the world is full of different technology that has an impact on us all. We can communicate through these technological changes and not just by letters anymore. Technology pretty much touches all of our lives in some way and is a vital resource that can keep us up to date with developments and ways in which the world will be changing. Technology has really advanced since the 1870’s when the first telephone was invented by Elisha Gray and Alexander Graham Bell. Since this time we have gone from a phone that had to be electrically used to a wireless cellular devices. Cell phones are the new age phone in which we communicate with the outside world. To send a text or picture message is much easier than standing at a phone holding one end to your ear and speaking in the other end. On the road many times there is not a pay phone and which you can call for road side assistance or the police. If so, then to have this light-weight mobile powered phone on the go is a great asset. It doesn’t only have to be an emergency because some people do a lot of business out of town so this is great for families to keep in touch with their loved ones. Their small size gives them great portability, thus adding to user convenience. As they can be operated on batteries, they provide computer users with mobile computing capabilities. How has this affected our lives? Well, we can remain connected to the world at all times.
In my first essay, I elaborated how technology is beneficial for health problems. Technology does not only help in the medical field. We use it for communication, traveling, entertainment, and even to monitor a business.  On my upcoming essay, I plan to expand the others reasons why we use technology. I will use examples, statistics, and stories to prove that technology is beneficial.
My examples will come from things that I have personally witnessed with technology. The statistics will come from research that will be done before hand, and my stories will come from experiences that I had. Many people will agree with me that technology is beneficial, for that is what we mainly use today. The only people who would not be in agreement with me are people who are unable to access it. They will disagree because they will not know how to use it. I am pretty sure once they do get a hold of it, they will jump on the bandwagon with me. J

Essay 2

For my second essay, I am going to expand on what I think about technology being beneficial to the medical field. In my first essay, I talked about research and child care. In the second essay, we were instructed to talk about the opposing issues or someone who would disagree with us, but I`m unsure how to go about that. If anyone has any ideas on my topic I would be happy to hear them.

Essay 2

In my first essay, I wrote about how technology can be detrimental to humanity, for the simple reasons that society relies too much on technology more than anything else, too much technology can harm anyone who abuses it, and school systems are starting to rely on technology to teach the kids. But in my second essay, I am going to write about the opposing issues or how someone might disagree with my topic in the first essay or my arguement in the second essay on how technology is beneficial to humanity.

Thoughts on Essay 2

My position for Essay 1 was that cell phones are detrimental to humanity. I think I will be sticking to this topic for Essay 2. Although, while I was writing Essay 1 found myself running out of things to write about so, I have a feeling expanding on this topic is going to be a bit of a challenge. As I was writing my paper I was thinking about the opposing view. I'm sure there are quite a few people that are going to disagree with me. Probably everyone on the planet. The reasons backing my position are: That cell phones cause accidents, health problems, and are harmful to our youth. I'm sure there are many people that will argue that many other things to contribute to accidents too. I'm also sure that many parents will argue that cell phones are life savers. They make for great tracking devices and also save a lot of parents time as far as picking their children up from places and such. And now that I'm writing down these ideas I'm almost thinking of moving over to the opposing side again.
But, despite my own cell phone addiction...I do still think that I brought up some pretty good points in my paper. I'm hoping to find some nice solid articles to maybe contribute some statistics to support my reasons. I'd also like to find some information about all the laws that have been passed and laws organizations and cities are trying to get passed about cell phone usage/texting while driving. Hopefully I'll find some useful information in the databases. Though I'm really not looking forward to the documentation part of the research paper. The only downside to research. Something about it is just a little intimidating...don't want to accidentally plagiarise or anything.

Essay 2

My stance on technology is that it is beneficial. It makes life easier in many ways. For example, cars, cell phones, computers, etc. Communications is what we use the most in modern day. This can be phones, television, radios, internet and everything that connects us together. Computers can be used to send important things fast. Electronic mail, or Email, can send mail instantly. Having this really helps nowadays because back in the day they would have riders to send the mail and that could take days or sometimes even months. Another thing that most people can't live without is phones. Phones can connect us to anyone, anywhere at anytime. Cell phones are very useful depending on how people use them. Some people might disagree about technology but they don't see how easier it makes their life. Imagine a day without a cell phone, a car, and a computer. First of all, you wouldn't wake up on time because you wouldn't have an alarm. You would have to walk to school. There would not be any computers in the classroom so everything would have to be hand written. You could only speak to people verbally, and thats only school. We would not have a television in the house so it might make life boring to people. Techonology can sometimes save lives but i can take some peoples lives aswell. Most deaths are by car accidents and some involve cell phones. But technology is something that we need, and without it we wouldn't be where we are now.

Essay 2 Ideas

My first essay was based on the beneficial products of technology regarding communication, transportation and entertainment. I will most likely use the first essay's focus as the ground work for the upcoming essay. Specifically, communication will include online social networking and cell phones, transportation will include cars, and entertainment will include video games.
I believe that social networks and cell phones bring us closer together regardless of the distances between us. Cars are important for us to use to get anywhere in today's speedy lifestyle and are generally convenient. Video games are a form of complex entertainment and in some cases can be considered a form of art. I'm planning on getting at least one source from research per topic. Getting only two sources for an essay with three points seems uneven to me. Finding disagreements to my points should be easy. Some people would say that social networking actually distances us from our loved ones and we become too addicted to updating our statuses to realize what's going on in the real world. With cell phones, people are too ready to text while doing things that require their full attention (ex. driving). Cars are still very detrimental to the environment and until we find a suitable replacement for fossil fuels they will continue to be so. Video games are occasionally viewed as a source of violence in children and teenagers and can contribute to procrastination in school. Generally speaking, I think this essay will be pretty easy and I should be able to complete this before the due date.

Ideas on essay #2

My position on essay one was that technology in healthcare is beneifical. I chose this viewpoint for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, advancements in healthcare have helped save countless lives and have made many strides in the process of diagnosis. From MRI machines to cat scans, technology has opened up many doors for the ill that might not have been there without it. However in essay #2 I need to take into consideration that it is not all rainbows and blueberries with the advancements with technology. There are indeed some down sides to this topic. The first being that if we rely too much on machines to help people survive, what would happen if the area near the hospital had a major blackout? We would be left helpless and confused. I think that thought alone is enough to know that we cannot always depend on technology for our well being. Another downside is the point of technolgy is unemplyment due to advancements in technology. This can hurt the ecnomy and leave many people out of a job. Well that was my views and opposing ideas so far.

ideas for essay 2

My ideas and position for my first essay paper was whether technology is beneficial or detrimental to humanity in health care. I will probably stick with this topic and expand my reasons and view points. My position is that I believe that technology is a great benefit to health care and the society. Some of my reasons for this is because if we did not have computers, machines and instruments in the hospital and health care settings, how would we be accurate on the diagnosis that are given. I believe that the technology we have can ultimately save lives and keep people alive. I believe that the vaccines and antibiotics we have keeps or country going and safe and healthy. I have to determine who might disagree with my position and why they disagree, and I am not to sure whom would disagree with this. I feel that maybe some people might disagree because they feel that it takes away the impersonal feel of the care. Also some people might say that they would rather go down the road of home remedies. Honestly I am not to sure who disagrees with this position or why they would disagree. Everyone needs and or will need some sort of health care in their life. And I am going to need some advise on why people would disagree with me and who are these types of people.

Essay 2 Expantion

I chose to take my positon as detrimental. For the example I used cell phones. The fact that cell phones are such a booming business now-a-days, makes it hard for people to see the downside of them. With the way that the different inventions are expanding right now, it could potentially make it hard to communicate with those countries who are less fortunate in being able to get these objects. The way the world now depends on cell phones for so many different reasons could possibly leave the other countries behind in the communication race. I used third world countries as my example. People in third world countries would feel lucky to get clean drinking water one day, while we use our extra money to make more and more of the same phone, with maybe one or two different options as small as a flash on the camera. I feel we should help other countries who need the help, other than being selfish and trying to make the best, to be the best.
My other example was that the older population has a very difficult time learning all of the technology we have now. With cell phones holding e-mail, texting, internet, and camera the older population is at an all time high of confusion. With all of our faith going into the cell phone business, and older people having to go back to work to survive, the ratio of older people knowing how to navigate the newer cell phone technologies is not good. My father is the perfect example. His company just gave him a new cell phone right as he was getting used to his old one. The one they just now gave him is a HTC, touch screen. He is completely confused as to how to move the screen with his fingers. Getting to his e-mail is harder than ever he says, and it takes pocket pictures because he doesn't understand how to "lock" his phone.
The last example I used was if one major source fails then we have no back up. Needless to say, if AT&T were to completely shut down, then what would happen to all of the AT&T customers? Would the spend even more money (that most people don't have) to switch to a different plan? Or would they be completely left behind without a cell phone, with the loss of all their information?
These are the problems people don't think about when they're so obsessed with the idea of having the new and better cell phone. Most people in the world would disagree with my ideas. Cell phones can be a great thing when it comes to emergencies. In a most extreme example, if someone breaks into your home and cuts the phone lines you can just simply press the "Emergency Call" button on your phone and Police will show up right away. Another good thing about cell phones could be that you CAN access any of your information at your fingertips, literally. You forget you left your straightner on in the morning before you left your house, one quick text or phone call to your mom; you save your house from potentially burning down. All in all, the expantion of this essay should be quite easy. The fact that we can research ideas will help with the outlining of the opposing ideas so I'm glad we have that. If anyone else would like to help give me GOOD ideas about cell phones, feel free.

Essay 2 Hybrid Technology Benefits

I took a stance on technology being beneficial to our society. I still stand by that opinion and have chosen the Hybrid technology being used in some of our vehicles today as my example. I see this technology as a way for our society to help slow down the problems that we created in the past and still are creating today with global warming. We have so much global warming happening right now we sentenced ourselves to a slow death. Global warming can never be 100 percent fixed however there are ways to help reduce global warming such as driving hybrid cars instead of traditional vehicles.

Furthermore, the oil dependency that the United States faces is a growing problem. We have built our lives on a non-renewable resource that will run out one day. Even though that day may be several years away we need to perfect the technology now to find a way out of the hole we have put ourselves in. Several thousand years from now we will not be here, but our descendants will be faced with the mess that we have left for them.

A form of hybrid vehicles have been around for numerous years, however hybrids are just now becoming more common to drive. Our communities need to take advantage of this amazing technology that allows us to more earth friendly. One vehicle at a time being changed from an original gas guzzler to a more sensible hybrid is the way to a brighter future. Lastly, hybrid cars are a tiny step to benefiting our society, but anything we can do to get a positive change going is a step in the right direction for the future generations.
