jescalante essay2

Technology, although very helpful in many ways, is not beneficial to the human race. Medicine
has advanced tremendously; yet, there are a vast number of diseases for which there is no
known cure. A good example is “Night Surf,” where the A6 virus wipes out the human race or “The Woman in the Room,” where a son kills his mother because technology will not be able to cure her.
Even vehicles can cause damage when not used properly. Every year thousands of people are killed in accidents. Vehicles are supposed to take us places rapidly and safely, but they can actually be a death trap. In “Trucks,” vehicles not only kill people, but they also enslave the entire human race in an effort to keep them fueled.
Guns are meant to be used in times of war or to defend ourselves. Instead, they are used to commit crimes. This might be the harshest and most dangerous misuse of technology.
Technology could even cause machines to develop a mind of their own. A future of machines killing humans and taking over the world, as shown in the movie “Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” does not seem so fictional when we see how advanced technology is truly becoming. In “The Mangler,” an ironing and folding machine gets a taste of blood and then goes on a killing spree.
Technology is man’s greatest accomplishment; yet, it could also be the downfall of man.

hellooooo?? technology is great!! there are some diseases that are incurable, but think about all of the ones that we are able to cure because of technology. thats freakin incredible. you said "Technology, although very helpful in many ways, is not beneficial to the human race". are you looney?? of course its beneficial. have u read any of the other posts?? they list numerous reasons how technology is beneficial to us. yea people get killed in car accidents, but that just means we need to be more careful. yea the non fictional things u listed are bad, but don't u think the good things that technology is used for outweigh the bad?? well, i do. just my opinion.
