Short Summary:
The story begins with Dale trying to get out of Chester's Mill while Claudette Sanders was flying a plane when the Dome lands around the small town which Claudette crashes into along with a bunch of birds, cars and other things. Chief Perkins tries to keep order, but dies when his pacemaker explodes because he got too close to the Dome. With his death, Jim Rennie Sr aka Big Jim, takes control of the entire town. When he does, he assembles new recruits into the police force, mainly his son and people his son recommended. Afterwords, Rory Dinsmore tries to shoot a bullet at the Dome and the bullet reflects and kills him during a town festival.

You'll find out there are a lot more social issues that King brings up in this novel as the plot develops. I thought this book was insane.
