There are a lot of pressures in todays society. For my essay I am going to write about the causes and effects of todays society. In todays world there are a lot of things that affect the way you live. One of the main things that will have an effect on your life is the gas prices. Like in " Mrs. Todds Shortcut" she could of been taking shortcuts to save gas along with time. maybe she wanted to save the money so sge could spend it on something else rather then give it all to oil refinarys. I believe that the refinarys and where ever they get the oil from are pretty much running the world. Because of them increasing the prices is causing every thing to rise in price. Because of them the cost of living has raised a tremendous amount and is going to continue to rise. The rise of gas prices is putting a lot of pressure on people and causing them to have to spend there money more wisely and cut down on a lot of driving. Today people are having to sell there cars to buy like hybrid cars or something that gets really good gas mileage. People wanting more money is causing gas prices to go up which in effect is causing everything to go up and making the poor get poorer.
