I find that torture is a very serious problem. Torture is useful to a degree, but it should only be used in extreme cases. However, most of the time the information we recieve is mostly made up so that they can stop the pain. Though sometimes it does work, other times it is problematic. There are easier methods to get information, according to some people. I find that torture only works with certain methods like waterboarding and clipping off fingernails. Torture might not be humane, but it does work every now and then. So in special cases, I believe torture should be allowed to use against the enemies of the United States.

Out of every idea I have read, this seems so random. I don't see this as a major problem in today's world. I'm not sure what a solution would be but I would be in favor for what our top military officials felt was appropriate. You can't say what you would do differently in a situation that would call for something like that until your are there living it.
I second Jennifer in randomness. However, I think it is totally valid. Gitmo has been swallowed up in other media nonsense, but it WAS a hot-topic social issue not very long ago.
I don't see a particular solution that can be applied though, because, as you said, it's a case-by-case basis. Wish I could read your essay.
