The Green Mile - Discussion One

During the fall of 1932, John Coffey came to the E Block at Cold Mountain State Penintentiary. He was sentenced to death by the electirc chair, better known as "Old Sparky", for the rape and murder of twin little girls. Paul Edgecombe, the head guard on the green mile, tells the story of the time he spent with John Coffey before his death. Some of the social issues in this story deal with racial issues and the death penalty.

The first part of the story gives details about everything and everyone in the prison. When it gets to John Coffey a lot of the story focuses on why he is on E Block. The crime he is being convicted of is horrible. The fact the he is at location with the girls seems to convict him. He seem like a kind man that would never hurt a fly. Paul thinks he is innocent, but reads the paper and has a hard time sleeping after reading what Mr.Coffey did to the girls. I look forward to completing the next section.

The story starts off in the prison being told by one of the guards named paul the head guard over the unit. but one day john coffey arrives to the prison but when paul gets to talking to him paul starts to get the idea of john not being able to commit a crime so he starts to investigate and starts having some trouble believing what he did. i'm looking forward to the next chapters and maybe even watching the movie.
