death penelty essay 4. Butler

im going to do my essay 4 over the death penelty. it is a big thing in todays world and in the book. one of the biggest thing would be putting people to death that are innocent but cant prove there innocence. that is a problem with it. as of right now that is my only thing against it. it would be alot better if people that spend life terms would just be put to death so that our money wouldnt be spent making them stronger and smarter so they could write books or something. but i mean the people that are put to death that are innocent no one really knows that there innocent except for them or by what they say. but it still is a problem. but i believe if some one is convicted to death they should be put to death shortly after. instaed of pushing it back every time it gets close to time. the death penelty is good though. if some one commits a high enough crime they should be put to death. it saves them having to wait for it to come and saves money. but like in the green mile with john he was and innocent man that was in the wrong place just trying to help

The death penalty is a good thing. I agree. And I agree that Americans should not have to pay to keep an inmate alive for years after convition if they are truly guilty. But if enough time is not given to the convict to appeal and quite possibly come up with proof of innocence an innocent man may die for a crime he didn't commit. A double-edged sword.

I was reading an article about Capital Punishment in the United States where twenty five years ago, in Furman v. Georgia, the U.S. Supreme Court considered whether the death penalty violated the Eighth Amendment Prohibition on cruel and unusual punishment.
Personally I think is arlitrary and discriminating. Some states modified their death penalty legislation. Also became an international issue. Some international movement tried to abolish the death penalty based on the human rights to life and the right to be protected from cruel, inhuman, or degrading punishment. It's contradictory if people reads the American Bill of Rights, because emphasizes the right to life.
The United Nation in 1989 asked for the abolition of the death penalty and I think reflects human progress, human dignity. Any convicted citizen has the right to due process, appeal, and imposition of death penalty only after final judgment by an adequate court after legal process and a fair trial.
I think public support is one of the reasons for the use of execution despite the effort to end executions. The public represents the pressure on prosecutors and judges to enforce the death penalty.
