I thought that the technology in "The Jaunt" was both good and bad. the good part is that it allows for travel between distant worlds, but the bad is that if you don't follow directions, you're in trouble -- you go crazy or die.
What I am confused about is the story "Quitters, Inc." How can the technology/method seem effective, but brutal at the same time. It works. I know i would think twice about smoking again if a family member was going to be punished. wouldn't this method really tell who is selfish and who is not?

Hello
I'm in.
ok the jaunt was interresting, but moral of the story to me is listen to directions carefully. Close you eyes!!!!
Ok Im a smoker, (please dont throw stones) The concept is ok but I would I couldnt handle the weight issues. im a big girl and being told i have to be a certain weight or my hubby loses a finger, not cool man
im here
I think smoking is selfish because not just in the story "Quiters" but in life it still can hurt the ones you love, like yourself dying of cancer or the effects of second hand smoke on your familiy
Here is My comment!! I loved Quitters Inc, because I grew up around smoker's my entire life and now I am suffering, I am sure you hear me cough allll the time! It goes to show what people would do for their loved ones, is a smoke really worth it?? Now the weight thing is un-necessary!!
The Jaunt was quite entertaining!! I loved it a lot. The boy at the end represents a good symbol in life, never give up your curiosity!!
Ok, I messed up and posted my view of "Quitters, Inc.", under the post from Ms. Burleson on Essay Two. I'll try and pay closer attention next time. ( Sorry ) :(
On "The Jaunt"; Wouldn't it be awful to see your child tear his/her eyes out, right in front of you! I think I'd have waited until all of my children were asleep before I went to sleep. But this is one of those "what if" or "I should've" scenario's. In general kids are, "rule breakers" especially when they're that age. You can "see that" in how the boy is described. I'm surprised that there wasn't any rules or regulations regarding children. (Of course, it wouldn't make for a good read that way.)
hola amigos!! ♥☺
