Zach Von Ruff ideas.

i believe that technology has it good and its bad time. But I do believe that technology does more good than harm. I think that without the advances of technology life would be much harder. But also believe that some technology we would be better off without. I think that technology has improved or ability to communicate with one another. We have cell phones and email witch are all great things. Without my cell phone my mom would be worried sick about me. She would never know were I ever. My email helps me keep in touch with my friends and family in the military or overseas. I also think that technology does make people lazy. People would rather drive 5 minutes than walk 10. People would rather sit at home and play video games than go outside and get some exercise. im not entirely sure what stories I want use to support my ideas. I like the story The Mist. It questions rather is it worth takeing risk to better technology. I also like the story quitter inc. It show how technology can be used to spy on you. It makes you think is somone watching me or is someone listening to my phone calls. I also like the story night surf. It makes you think what if we had the technology to stop the spread of disease. Then the entire world wouldnt be wiped out by it. So there are lot of cool thinks to talk about its just of narrowing the ideas down and picking one. But I do believe that technology is more benifical than determental.

Angel Travis's ideas for essay 2

I personally think technology is a good thing for us. It has its bad points too but I think the good out ways the bad. Our use of technology daily is so common that we hardly realize how much we actually use. Every thing we do from the moment we wake up each day uses technology. The alarm clock, the bathroom light, the instant coffee programmable coffee pot. then we get ready for work, and leave the house setting the alarm on the house, clicking the button on our key less entry to get in the car, cars with a/c, c.d, mp3 players, and don’t forget the GPS, power locks and seats (how often do we think about that). I’m not even gonna go in to all the things at work that use technology, and rely on. We rely heavily on technology for nearly aspect of our lives. From the small and mundane to the large and vital things we use technology. [But to what cost] these are some of the areas that I can think of that technology has helped and that we have benefited from

* medical advances
*criminal evidence testing
*daily communication made easier
*instant access to data
*world wide communication
*education benefits
*news reporting
*weather forecasting
*travel
*utter convenience
*electricity
*safety

*criminal justice correctional centers

there are some down sides to technology too {The cashiers at Wal-Mart would not know how to ring up the customers order if the power went out.} how would parents deal with their children w/o power. they would have to entertain them and have conversations with them, and to some parents that is a taboo concept.

most of our houses are not equipped to to save and prepare food w/o power. but that is another paper all together.

Nicko Tibaldo's Ideas-essay 2

So far i am planning to do my paper on a general understanding of technology and how it has benefited and detremintal people as a whole. I haven't really been able to pick one topic for me there is too much informatioin for just one, i think i am going to have to pick several and just talk about the pros and cons of them and how it has affected us.

To me there is some major upsides to technology. The things that you can do with it are amazing. We have been able to send people to the moon, create cures for diseases, and even come up with ways to communicate with others on the other side of the world. To me i think it is unbelievable. I am thinking that there should be plenty of information to, use along the lines of medical resaearch and computers, for some of the major benefitting and detremintal points of my paper.

The bad part of my paper is going to be when i have to combine the bad and good parts of technology. It is not going ot be hard to find evidence to show where it has gone bad but it is when i have to tie the two side together. I mean technology has brought about a kind of laziness that we depend on too much. In kings story, Nightsurf, he shows how people tried to create a disease and it back fired and in the end it caused the end of civilization.

If people could not rely so much on technology and were not so dependant we could use it and still be able to not have to worry as much if something was to go wrong.

K Beanland's Ideas

My view on essay 2's topic, technology, is that it is very beneficial to our everyday life. We depend on technology more than we can even comprehend. Every single day, everything we do and everything we see has been produced by, or by something that was produced by, technology. From the buildings that are all around us, to the computer chips that are running this computer, everything is enhanced, perfected, upgraded, easier to use, and just plain better because of technology. It is very difficult for us to imagine what this world would be like if we didn’t have technology. I think the playful thoughts that probably come to most peoples’ minds are of cavemen and Indians. But the truth is that that’s exactly where we would be without technology. No one wants to think about not being able to eat without someone killing or gathering it first, or not being able to wear clothes that are made of anything but animal skin, or not being able to escape the weather conditions, or not being able to keep up their personal hygiene because everything that we have today to have all of these things has come from technology. We can survive without technology.. but not nearly as convenient, and comfortable as we do today. Not to mention we’d stink.

Technology makes life easy. It makes it fun. It allows us to relax, have better health, be able to communicate and learn faster. Although there might be a few negative sides to technology, the good outweighs the bad by an unlimited factor. That’s why I am going to write about how technology is beneficial to our lives.

Is technology beneficial or destructive for man kind (jeremyw)

My ideas for this essay will support both views between the beneficial aspects and the destructive aspects of technology. My thesis statement will begin with "Is technology beneficial or destructive to mankind". I will be using most of my examples from the Stephen King short stories "The Jaunt" and "The Mist". Ill will be using history to support my ideas with the examples, like Alfred Noble the man who the Noble Peace Prize was named after, He created dynamite for the purpose of serving mankind like in mining but instead his own creation has been synthesized to be used as explosive devices for war. Or the Rockefellers who helped create the atomic bomb but now has one of the largest humanitarian organizations in america. The creation of plastics that are used in creating medical equipment, blood bags, i.v. tubes, surgical tubing and etc, are also used in weapons manufacture like gun stocks, bomb bodies, containers for biological weapons. Among other things is my essay will also use the effect that technology will have on the enviroment, like global warming, weather change, smog in industrial areas. I will also include how technology can fix the damages that it has done, like reversing global warming, producing more free energy, and recycling 99% of all the waste we have made. Bottom line is technology beneficial or destructive to mankind well thier is no real answer for the question because we need technology now in our daily lives , Its not technology that is destructive or beneficial, its how we use the technology is what counts

Michael's idea: Technology, friend or foe?

Technology, with the benifits that we gain, also come the hazards of its use. Technology has helped us in many ways, with the abilities to send messages instantly around the world, computer gaming, and just household items that improve everday life. With the ability to instant message and everything being extremely fast paced theses days, we tend to abbreviate almost every word that we can. This may provide a faster way of telling someone a story, but you sacrifice your abilities to write properly with it. An easy way to relax after a hard day of work, would be to pop in a game into your gaming console, and wonder off into an adventure. With the ability to play online games though, you may easily become addicted. When your wondering around a new world, with a character of your own choice and name, it is easy to get dragged into the world and turn it more into a job than a game. With the aid of technology, many things that we used to do around the house are now being overtaken by robots. There are many new types of household cleaning robots, some that follow a set track maped around your house to sweep, or others that have an electrice sensor and clean what they can see. with such aid's as these, we may become sluggish and depend on them to get the house clean. Technology is very benificial to human society, but we can easily become very dependant on it as well.

Technology...Beneficial or Detrimental

Is technology beneficial or detrimental to humanity? I must say that my view on this subject leans more to beneficial than detrimental because of all the great technology that we have today does benefits us in one way or another. I couldn't imagine if someone were to take away the goodies that we enjoy when it comes to technology and we have to live like they did hundreds of years ago. I mean, can you imagine getting around in a horse and carriage or living without air conditioning? I think, we as a society today take for granted the great technology that we enjoy.

I don't see much harm in technology today if anything, the harm from technology is usually caused by human error.

In the short stories "The Mangler" and "Trucks," we read that technology comes alive. For instance, in"The Mangler" a demon takes possession of a dry cleaning machine and kills more than once. In the short story "Trucks," we read that all types of machinery have come to life and threatens all mankind. These stories are really good but, I like the short story "The Jaunt" best. Can you imagine traveling by a way similar to the jaunt. The consequences of not taking the gas doesn't sound good though.
